There are many organizations that are in existence all over the world, but there are those that have had tremendous growth leading to their spread all over the world. The secret to success of such companies lies from the foundation that was laid down by the founders of the company in the attempt to ensure that the company becomes a success. Foundation includes the company mission, vision, management structure, selection of an excellent location, training and development and the involvement in activities promoting Corporate Social Responsibility.
The study takes into consideration an organization by the name Old Excellent Company Limited. The company was founded in the 19th century, and has grown slowly but surely to be among the biggest companies in the world. The company has its headquarters in the United States in Atlanta where the company first started after incorporation. The company’s mission is a declaration to the customers. It states that the company aims at refreshing the customers, ensure there is happiness and the creation of value. The company’s vision is describable as the roadmap of the company in regards to sustainability and quality of its growth. Its vision is divisible into sections such as employee, partners, profit and the environment. To the employees, the company targets to be the best workplace, to the partners, the company attempts to create a mutual understanding. To the environment, it will support the community and to its shareowners, it will maximize their returns.
The company has a culture of ensuring that there is employee motivation to win. The attitude and behavior of all employees are to ensure that there is the promotion of the winning culture. The company is a great contributor to the community and ensures that the company shows concern to the community. At the beginning of the 21st century, the company revised its policies on corporate social responsibility. The company is an active participator in training and developing talent to ensure that there is quality. The company has developed a curriculum to enhance learning through class, field training, and e-learning to enhance professional development. The company takes part in the training of up to 27,000 worldwide associates per annum.
There is the great need to ensure that any training offered by all organizations including Old Excellent Company improves the workplace by ensuring that there is the transfer of the learnt skills to the workplace. The training scheduled program in the organization will on time management. The importance of the training in time management is because of the day to day issues arising in the organizations. There are various aspects of time management that are useful in the training. There is the need for the audience to get the understanding of what is meant by time management. The audience will have to learn the myths associated with time. There is the learning of the effective ways to manage interruptions and procrastination. Finally, the training will ensure that there is the understanding on how to schedule one’s tasks. With time management, the employees will ensure that there is creation of value and the satisfaction of the customer. Customer satisfaction will be through the provision of the product in time as there is the understanding that there is the need to fulfill the need when the customer has the need.
There is the expectation that the audience will consist of about forty employees of the American-based production plant. The number is optimal to ensure that there is effective communication. The training program will incorporate senior company’s staff as there is the assumption that leading from the top has significant influence on the subordinates. The training will have project heads, team leaders, human resource employees and the finance staff members. There is an advantage of having this group of audience together; they are nearly of the same education level, meaning that their understanding is similar. It ensures that there is the likelihood of uniform understanding. The expected age range is from the youth with the lowest being about 30 years to about 50 years. It is the range where some people are in higher positions after a promotion despite how minimal. The gender is well-balanced meaning that the company is giving equal opportunities to all irrespective of their gender. The company is not discriminating on gender lines. Despite the positives, there is the prediction that the bigger part of the audience is not interested in the learning process. They feel that it is a waste of their precious time that may be useful in ensuring that the company operations run smoothly. There is the expectation that the audience is familiar with technology; the audience is aware of the basics in the use of computers and cell phone technology and any other technology.
Self-direction in the learning process is the ability of the audience to ensure that they take up the responsibility to ensure that the learning process proceeds without any hindrance. It includes the ability of the learners to take notes, ensure that they have the right materials and ensure that they monitor their progress. Since the audience is of an older generation, there is the expectation that most will not take this program seriously. Increasing this number will ensure that more than half will have achieved the intended goals of the training process. Thus, the trainer is expected to explain the benefits of the program to the audience.
The use of a theory in the planning of the training is useful. Andragogy educational theory is the most efficient theory. The theory takes into account various challenges that adult learners experience as the challenges is unique to those younger learners. The theory advocates a more active and engaging approach that is highly flexible to suit the learners. The theory appreciates the experience that the learner has, which serves as a motivation for the learner. The experience is higher to an adult learner than to a younger learner but is of lesser theory knowledge than the younger learner.
The andragogy theory ensures that the trainer makes use of practical elements in the training than the theory part to enhance the understanding of the learner. The trainer must ensure that there is incorporation of real life situations that the learner can relate to in the attempt to make use of the experience that the learner possesses. In the training, the trainer may ask the effects of them getting late to work or not...
