Artifacts
Excavation of the Rathfarnham Castle Located in Irish. During a random survey of the castle, archaeologist Antoine found his hands stuck into a wet pit under the floor. He surprisingly found jewelry dating back from as early as the 1600s. After proper analysis, he concluded that the artifacts dated from 1650_1700. After the construction of the Rathfarnham Castle in South Dublin in 1583, several families have dwelled there. The Pit that was discovered was most probably logged in early 1700.
Perhaps, the person who hid the artifacts in the pit did it after a raid, or maybe the person lacked a better place to store the artifacts. Most likely, the artifacts were a possession of the family of Lord Adam Loftus. Adam is considered to have been a descendant of Archbishop Loftus who is alleged to have built the castle. Despite the much turbulence experienced at the time: the inhabitants of the castle lived lavish and luxurious lives.

Is one of the dinnerware items found in the castle. The glass at the time was considered expensive, and only the affluent members of the society would afford. It is likely that the art was a belonging of the Lord Adam family who dwelled in the castle from 1625-1691 (O’Kelly 24). The lord was killed by cannon. The glass was most probably bought and delivered to the castle while the archbishop went on trips to other regions such as Athens.

The artifact was used in the decoration of the Venetian glass goblets. In the mid-1650's, horses were hard to come across. Therefore, the horse must have been designed by an artist especially for an influential member of the society. A white horse also represented purity. Consequently, the artifact is symbolic. The white horse most probably was made by an artist and given to the Castle as a gift.
lefttopRed Wax Seal
The artifact represents a symbol of a seal of the court of arms. All the documents received in the Castle had the symbol. The logo represents a unique shape which was only used by the royal families in those ages. Therefore, the stamp depicts a resemblance to the authority of the inhabitants of the castle.
The red wax was similar to today's government seal. Therefore, the seal was a symbol used on official documents addressed to specific members of the society. Such as Kings
