The Mind-body medicine utilizes the use the influence of the thoughts and emotions to determine the physical health of an individual. In this practice of body-mind medicine, the actual healing capability is in each one of us and is the powerful force that determines if one will get well or not. This form of medicine is an innovation that begun in the twenty-first century to improve health care and it includes a broad range of lifestyle, and behavioral interventions applied in an equal measure with the traditional medicines to improve the healing possibility in patients. The actual patient in this mind-body type of medication is recognized as the totality of the mind, body and the spirit. The medical interventions are then directed to all aspects of the patient to improve the healing process in the patient (Shapiro, Schwartz and Bonner, 1998).
For instance, the present circumstances which lead to the suffering of humanity in the rich cultures of the present civilized society are as a result of dietary habits, lifestyle, life-stress and the activity level. These factors are the primary causes of bacteria and virus infections and disease as well as the physical trauma in many of the patients. The use of mind-body medicine involves the formation of a partnership between the experts in the mental and medical field and it incorporates specialists like the physicians, psychologists, the nurse practitioners, and the mind-body professionals, like the chiropractors, biofeedback practitioners, nutritionists, yoga teachers and the spiritual counselors. The outcome is combined partnerships of caregivers who together addresses the body, mind and spirit in every health care visit they perform (Shapiro et al., 1998).
Similarly, the acute care medical form has for long provided the tremendous improvements in the overall health of people. In the acute care design, the treatment and the mechanistic model of disease in question are based on the dichotomy of the mind and body. This model stresses the application of the general laboratory work, the diagnostic symptom-oriented interview, and the advanced imaging examinations to identify a particular disease or healthy condition leading to the complaint of the patient. After diagnosis, the use of pharmacology is heavily emphasized with minimal emphasis on surgery. Though many medical practitioners recognize the value of diet, life-stress, and exercise, all these agents are broadly addressed when the conventional therapeutic approaches fail (Cassell, 2002). 
According to Cassell (2002), the psychological experts are considered as the secondary as well as tertiary caregivers who are mainly employed when the doctor is unable to give relief, or when there is no distinguished basis for the disease. The mind-body practitioners utilize psychosocial and behavioral interventions to improve medical responses in patients. In this mode of treatment, the patient is assigned an active position from the beginning of the treatment and increases the obligation as the process proceeds. The mind-body medication features mainly on the patient self-management and the patient education as the fundamental elements of the clinical practice to provide quality health care to patients. This medical practice is important because the healing process requires both physical and mental treatment.
The traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and Ayurveda have several similarities. Both Ayurveda and TCM systems focus more on the patient while giving less emphasis on the disease. The two systems aim to refine the person's health while intensifying the quality by the use of therapeutic procedures for treatment of particular diseases. One of the main similarities is that the two systems use almost half of the herbal sources accepted as medicines. Besides, both systems have related philosophies organized towards facilitating the classification of materials, individuals, and diseases. The TCM views humanity at the center of the universe and considers humans as the antenna within natural and celestial elements (Gerson, 2002). 
According to Gerson (2002), the earth, water metal, wood as well as fire are the five primary elements comprising the physical world. The world being a single unit, its movement provides yang and yin which are the two principal antithetic factors. The original meaning of the expression yin and yang is the positive and negative. Nonetheless, The Chinese people consider that yin and yang are non-absolute but simply related. Like the current view of the homeostasis, the principles applied by Yin and Yang are as well interchanged thus meeting the prospect that as ‘yang declines or drops yin automatically rises’ similarly, as ‘yang raises to leads to a decline of yin.’
In humanity, the bodily senses of humor the (qi, blood, essence and moisture) and the internal body organ systems (Zang-fu) perform an essential role in the balancing of the yin and yang in the body. The three forces namely (pitta, Kapha, and Vata) are identified as the threefold doshas or just the tri-dosha. Every of the three doshas is made up of either one or two factors. Vata, for instance, is formed by air and space, the Pitta of fire, as well as the kapha of earth and water (Gerson, 2002). 
The Vata dosha possesses the quickness and mobility of air and space, the pitta dosha which is the metabolic properties of fire and the Kapha dosha which is the solidity and stability of the earth and water. The main function of tridosha is to regulate each aspect of the psychological and physiological process in all living things. The attributes and the health of an individual is greatly determined on how the three factors interplay. The harmony of the three doshas effects health in a person however, the imbalance of the three doshas which may be the deficiency (kshaya) or the excess (vriddhi) leads to the manifestation of a symptom of a disease (Gerson, 2002). 
In the treatment of acupuncture, I would apply the treatment of TCM. Acupuncture is considered to be the leading cause of pains after a physical injury. Currently, acupuncture is being utilized in the clinical examinations for a broad range of mild ailments to life-threatening diseases. These conditions include chronic back pain, arthritis sciatica, HIV/AIDS just mentioning a few. The procedure of acupuncture involves the use of various glazed needles that the acupuncturist expert injects into the points on the meridians in the human body. The injected meridians are usually the energy points and are intended to excite the Qi, or the patient's life-force as well as the intensification of the healing process (Ernst, 2003).
