A digestive system is one of the vital elements of any organism. Through the digestive system, one can get essential elements required for body functioning. Specifically, complex foods such as fats, proteins, carbohydrates are converted into fatty acids, amino acids and glucose by digestive enzymes. This paper seeks to offer an overview about the absorption of fats, vitamins, the role of bile, aetiology and consequences of lactose intolerance.
Absorption of fats from the intestinal lumen to the lacteal
As described by Hoffman and Kuksis (2018), the small intestine uses bile to break down and emulsify large fat digestion products into smaller sizes. As a result, the lipase enzymes break down lipids into fatty acids, such as steroids and cholesterols.
