Unit 1 Discussion Responses Name Institution Unit 1 Discussion responses 1. Thank you for noting that the definition of forensic psychology has evolved over the years. I concur with you that none of the presently available definitions of this discipline is sufficient to be regarded as concrete. You have stated that the effect of this lack of sufficient definition has led to a division of the discipline into five subsections and this is correct. Moreover, I agree with the roles of psychologists you have stated. To add to your argument on correctional psychologists, these professionals are responsible for entry-level and exit assignments (Boothby & Clements, 2002). Question: in which one of the five areas of forensic Psychology would you advise someone close to you to work? I agree with your definition of victimology that it is the scientific study of the relationship between victims and offenders. Just to add, victimology also assesses the psychological effects of crime. It is also true that victims of various crimes are now receiving better services today than was the situation a couple of decades ago. You have also stated the correct roles of psychologists in serving victims but just to add, psychologists, are also expected to prepare law enforcement on how to handle victims with empathy while extracting important details of the crimes committed against them. Additionally, victimology plays a pivotal role in crime prevention, law enforcement, criminal prosecution, and corrections (Walklate, 2012). I can't agree more with your explanation of the psychology of crime and delinquency. Just to add to your assertion, a person's early childhood experiences influence their chances of engaging in criminal activities in their adulthood. Again, people's perceptions of the word and how they express these perceptions influence their probability of engaging in crime (Walklate, 2012). Furthermore, it is correct that the specialities of Victimology/Victim Services and Psychology of Crime and Delinquency are crucial in helping individuals. Also, you have correctly stated that victimology investigates the effects of crime on victims and the best interventions. Moreover, I agree with your assertion that The psychology of crime and delinquency focuses on the prevention, intervention, and treatment that could reduce the risk of criminal activities or antisocial tendencies (Walklate, 2012). Question: why do you want to work as a professional psychologist in the field of the psychology of crime and delinquency 3. I agree with you that psychologists in the area of police and public safety psychology help law enforcement and public safety workers to execute their duties effectively. I also concur with you on the duties perfo...
