The nursing code of ethics represents a guide for "carrying out nursing responsibilities in a way compatible with excellence in nursing care and the ethical commitments of the profession," according to the American Nurses Association (ANA). In general, ethics refers to the moral ideals that guide a person's behavior. In the field of medicine, ethics plays a crucial role.
