Overbooking is defined as the practice many hotels whereby they concentrate on selling many tickets than the initial capacity. The consistency in booking can be defined as the selling the tickets to above capacity in repeated manner. In consistency overbooking, the hotel or any other business entity gains the reputation of overbooking. There are several shortcomings as well as merits for consistency overbooking. Firstly, the returns of overbooking are high. The hotel earns revenue through overbooking. However, this is a disadvantage where the hotel fails to manage the overbooking expertly. This means that the hotel’s reputation may be tarnished for making booking when it lacks capacity.

The overbooking for a sporting event is potentially dangerous since with many people than the capacity, there is a possibility of people being injured. In some cases it can lead to deaths.
