Scope of the project
The company has been there for less than two years and the use of databases have been limiting its operations. The company is facing the problem of less data storage resources and data security. Databases are used for storage, which are not that secure with the increased rate of computer crimes like hacking and cracking. The company also wants to upgrade its technological infrastructure which should be up to date to combat its competitors.
The project is aimed at improving hardware and software of the company to improve its performance making it grow at the rate of 20 percent per year. This project will make sure that the company is able to achieve its objectives which are mainly to store a lot of data and ensure security to that data. It will propose the most modern and applicable infrastructure that will suit the company’s needs and will be cost effective according to the budget.
The project will be over within sixty days. It will be declared successful when the company is able to store a lot of data and security of this data is guaranteed. This will only happen when the company becomes comfortable with the proposed data collection methods, data analyzing processes and back up processes are producing the desired output and are modern.
It is a 25 dollar project which covers all the upgrading and installation cost. The number of employees will have to increase due to increased responsibilities like the business intelligence and ETL departments. The other employees will need training to familiarize them with modern technology and their new responsibilities. Training will require professionals in both coaching and computing to be able to make the employees understand.
There are no risks taken since the previous performance will not stop until the new program is approved by the management to be safe and reliable. The two programs will be put to run at the same time to approve the efficiency of the proposed program. If it proves to be effective, the current program will be brought to an end while the proposed one continues. Its shortcoming is that this project is expensive compared to the current one in terms of software and hardware upgrading and personnel training. It is assumed that this company deals with only historic information which will not require change after being put down over time but only small adjustments here and there to suit historical changes.
A database is a collection of data in an organized manner. Data is collected from different databases and are analyzed to come up with one detailed database which is the database warehouse. The databases used in this company have less memory capacity holding less information at making them ineffective for the huge requirements of the company compared to other warehouses which a lot of information for a long period of time.
Analytics has been neglected in this company mostly due to lack of skilled personnel. Interface has been put into place but is not doing well. Analytics can be used as a cloud service to move concerns related with infrastructure, data source incorporation and human resource in the hands of specialists who are knowledgeable in these specific areas. Analytical cloud as proposed, will deal with a lot of blockades in small and midsized businesses enabling analytical possibility.
Technological infrastructure is hardware and software used in technology. Security of these basic resources is a primary function of any company. There have problems with the security of data due to increased rate of computer crimes. This problem should be taken care of to approve the success of this project. The offices and computers in them are well taken care of by the security personnel throughout the day. This should be improved by use of more modern security measures like use of personal features for entrances.
Since this is a new company, cost is a very sensitive issue. Cost can be reduced by outsourcing and off shoring. The company needs to grow at a faster rate hence incorporating other countries’ knowledge implying more ideas which simply will be a gain to the company’s development and growth. This company needs to expand its bazaar especially in other countries. This idea will promote its growth and popularity around the world. This is only possible through outsourcing and off shoring.
Skilled personnel are highly needed in this company in order to produce desired output which will mean more customers and popularity around the world. This is made possible by off shoring. Off shoring also increases the rate at which a specific job is done. This will help the company in updating their data within a very short time globally.
