The Future of Organizations and Work (Essay Sample)

Instructions:

As a manager/leader/coworker, your communication responsibility is to engage all stakeholders in recognizing, discussing, deliberating, shaping, and navigating how we will work in, live through, and benefit from this unfolding future.
Review each of the following assigned resources in order 1-6. For each resource, extract and synthesize the best insights, key ideas, critical facts, vital questions, and powerful quotes. Each synthesis should be highly insightful informed by specifics from the reading/video content yet written in a concise manner. Some readings/videos are more insightful than others; space devoted to each will not be equal. You may find that subsequent resources overlap or repeat key ideas/facts; no need to restate those. You may find yourself stringing together random definitions, key questions, short quotes, and quick lists causing paragraphs to feel choppy; that is expected at times. Write any “lists” in sentence/paragraph form! Note any special instructions or prompts I provide to guide your extraction/synthesis of a select reading/video; respond accordingly.

Assignment #3: The Future of Organizations & Work (part 2)
Skill shift: Automation and the future of the workforce
Bughin et al. (2018) argue that the technological, emotional, cognitive skills and social demands are rising everyday in the organization, and the demand will be even higher by 2030. The organization's future is based on the skills that are seen to shift on the emergence of new technological trends in the organization since the fourth industrial revolution (Bughin et al., 2018). This is also associated with the adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI) automation, which acts as the fulcrum of the future organization by vision 2030. There will be a rise in the need for some skills such as technological, social, and emotional skills to impact our organizations' future (Bughin et al., 2018). The changes will need employees to improve their previous knowledge and skills to acquire new advanced skills. This implies that most organizations should rethink how to organize work to prepare for future changes (Bughin et al., 2018).
Research on the impact of technology on business, society, and the economy provides a quantification of the time to be spent for the 25 core work skills that are useful in the future, for instance, the five leading industrial countries such as Germany, France, Spain, Italy, and the UK to examine the implications of the shifts in the taking place in the organization as we prepare for the future of the industries. Research predicts that there will be rapid growing needs for social and emotional skills. This is associated with the growing need for technological and its implementation in the industries, thus requiring more technical expertise to run and adopt this technology in the organization (Bughin et al., 2018). A projection of these needs from 2016 to 2030 has shown an increase in the demand for technology in the organization based on the US and Europe by 26% and 22%, respectively (Bughin et al., 2018). This projection also shows that effective leadership will also be mandatory in future organizations. It will also take a lot of knowledge, creativity, and cognitive skills because future organizations will be automated. This will take a lot of expertise to manage the automation as it advances (Bughin et al., 2018). This prediction is an indication that the future organization will also be taken over by machines that are continuously taking over the data-input tasks in the organization.
