Travel restrictions in Australia have frustrated the hopes of international students returning to school to complete their studies since they have been stuck at home. With fewer available resources, the quality of education has significantly lessened for these students. Ultimately, their completion of the university course is delayed. As demonstrated through the Fishbone analysis tool, the delay in the completion of education by international students in Australia arises from a myriad of interconnecting issues centered around COVID-19.
The key problem is the interruption of education completion for transnational students studying in Australia. When COVID-19 struck, the closure of public institutions like universities made learners return home. However, after the social gatherings were relaxed, social institutions opened. However, the government instituted measures restricting international traveling barred the international students from returning to resume schooling. It follows that most of these international students are stuck at home without any equivalent advanced learning resources. Some have issues enjoying instructional resources availed through online management systems. Others have network connectivity issues. Still, others have no access to the available resources due to the high cost of electronic gadgets such as laptops.
In continuation, some international students face extensive intricately intertwined problems that frustrate their capacity to access education. First, COVID-19 has increased economic instability due to job loss and income reduction. The geographical distance between home and school also frustrates any efforts to reach school. Regrettably, staying at home also excludes the international learners from peer study groups, which are usually an essential support system. Ineffective learning methods while at home further complicates the issue delaying the chances of completing studies further. Unless the travel bans and restrictions are eased, students will continue being delayed from completing their studies.
