Gender Equality in the Infantry Student’s Name College Affiliate Gender Equality in the Infantry Introduction Infantry are soldiers who are marching on foot in a collective manner. Therefore, gender equality in the infantry is put into consideration. The purpose of the paper is to show the cause and effect of gender equality in relation to the infantry perspective. Causes of Gender Equality in the Infantry The need for gender equality within the infantry was caused by the fact that most of the women in the modern world want to have equal opportunities. The desire for the same prospects has led women to demand equality in terms of gender even within the military. Additionally, the demand for females in the infantry increases, especially in the United States where more women are applying to become part of the military. The need for equality is what has evoked in many women the desire to become part of the military (Mohammed & Asifa, 2014). There is also the need to lower the standards for women to join the infantry. The implication here is that simplifying the military process for women has caused many to demand to be recognized as part of the military. Accepting women to the military has been made easier to ensure that there is the inclusion of both male and female counterparts in the military. Another cause of achieving gender equality in the infantry is that women often opt to ignore the fact that they are physically different from males (Donna & Debbie, 2009). The ignorance has led to more women have the desire of being part of the military because they believe that they can successfully do what men do in the military. It has to be recognized that there are some women who are capable of doing what men can do with ease. This has contributed to women’s desire to engage into military service. Gender equality being practiced internationally has also lured more women to the field because they assume that they have all the needed skills to become soldiers (Mohammed & Asifa, 2014). Fundamentally, women’s need for gender equality in the infantry has been caused by the above-mentioned issues and has led to the increased number of women in such fields. Effects of Women in the Infantry The establishment of gender equality in the military have faced challenges because despite the fact that women demand gender equality, they are unable to do what men do in the military. It is true as they end up asking for the standards to be lowered on their part. The implication here is that gender equality in the military is an issue that cannot be attained because women contradict themselves by asking the hiring department to lower the standards (Carol, 2000). Men are naturally stronger, faster, and more efficient in terms of performance as compared to women because they are more physically fit. A unit of military men does their tasks better as compared to a unit including both men and women. Also, male unite can combat more effectively in terms of defense than a mixed unit because men alone can reason, work together, and generate significant results because they are born to defend. Lowering the standards in a military camp is dangerous because it can lead to negative results where soldiers might get hurt in the process. The insinuation here is that the approach of women asking for the standards to be lowered is a hindrance and disgrace to the military fraternity. The rationale is based on the perspective that during a combat such a unit with lowered standards will be unable to counter their opponent with the right strength, speed, and professionalism (Carol, 2000). The outcome of such a scenario is that the military might end up being killed just because the standards were lowered to favor the women counterparts. The fact that one or two women can perform according to the same standards as the male individuals does not imply that all the other women are able to do the same. Such a scenario is a misconception because it leads to poor military performance and at times the death of soldiers. Furthermore, most women are incapable...
