The overarching purpose of a business course in the contemporary world is to foster a world of cooperation, instrumentalism for skills, knowledge transfer and for the development of the worker to be autonomous and strategically functional within their organizations. Local action and international responsiveness are new areas of concern and therefore are useful goals for any human resource professional.
Contemporary human resource concepts are increasingly relevant to the oil industry just like all the other sectors. I learnt that the environmental movement and the commitment to conservancy are contemporary challenges every industry must address as a priority. As the world gradually shifts from hydrocarbons to other green energy sources, the transition must impact the social and human spheres of consumption and international politics. It is only through effective human resource management that such a transition in attitudes and habits of consumers can be effectively managed by organizations. Without effective human resource facilitation, organizations are basically mechanistic and unmanageable (Capon, 2009). I also learnt that leadership and management aptitudes must intercept the mechanism of institutions to deliver sustainable results.
It was useful to learn that every organization facilitates their internal cultural environments through systems of dialogue, technologies and institutional structures. It is the role of the human resource function to design and implement these functions to produce useful levels of synergy. Moreover, in a work environment that begs the need for inclusivity and diversity, no mean contentment will win for corporate human resource strategies. Multiculturalism must accompany economic globalization and outsourcing labor force need to go together with political cooperation.
It is only through the conciliatory functions of the human resource departments that other departments in organizations become meaningful and manageable. For instance, the accounting departments and finance departments must harmonize their mode of relations to work together for the organization.
