Introduction: In the recent years there have been a number of significant improvement in technology with the discovery of new frameworks such as the advancement in intermodal transportation .EDI, RFID is not really a new idea too many individuals, but with the drastic development in technology has made them more significant with practical application of today and tomorrow (Angeles, 2005). With a number of modes in intermodal transportation such as air, road, rail, and also pipeline companies uses these technologies in order to keep track of their goods when they are on transit to their destination.
The major benefit of the RFID technology is improvement of the overall automation and same time reducing the cost and assisting in fighting hijacking of the goods on transit which is an industry of billions of dollar investment .According to a research in the rail transport, the RFID technology was established in 1970 by the government and in the 1990s the Railroads association adopted the technology as one of the significant standard for the industry (Ranganathan, 2005).
RFID technology was first put into operation in WWII in order to differentiate the friendly and enemy aircraft. Since then, the technology has undergone significant evolution and has been used in animal tracking, security frameworks on buildings and also on the electrical payment platforms such as in the gas stations.
