Medical practice requires the application of multi-disciplinary teams. With different professional on the team, patient care is handled from a multi-faceted approach that allows all the aspect of the disease or the condition to be addressed(Canceraustralia.gov.au, 2015). However, relative to the fact that this is a team, performance also depends on a number of factors, related to the team work dynamics.
The first element which can be addressed is that of team work. This is the team approach which is directly connected to the ability of the various members to take up roles relative to their specialty and make them part of the team effort(Canceraustralia.gov.au, 2015). Avery member of the team has a part to play, but they must all work as an integral part, under general practice towards a single goal related to patient’s well-being. The best way to test for the outcome of the team effort is high related to the cohesion of the various interventions between the different team members and success of the outcome on the patient.
For any team, the ability to communicate effectively plays a subtle role in the success of the integration and the ability to work in unison. Communication forms the backbone of any team, as they exchange information. Aspects such as, medical interventions, patient care, responses to treatment and decision making are all based on the ability to communicate effectively(Canceraustralia.gov.au, 2015). The ability to communicate amongst themselves as team members and the ability to relay the same information to the patient and their loved ones is of paramount importance, as it implicates on the team’s performance.
