Currently, the rapidly changing dynamics of the business environment necessitates equally fast responses for organizations to remain relevant. The entrepreneurial organization, which promotes the development of ideas from all members, is one of the ways through which organizations respond to changing environments. Consequently, organizations lean more on innovative activities, thereby creating a robust culture of entrepreneurship. Other than facilitating the sustenance of organizational relevance, orientation towards entrepreneurship forms the basis on which organizations assess and plan for the future in several ways.
Firstly, organizations seek innovative opportunities to surpass the operational as well as the profitability levels of their competitors. Nowadays, almost all business niches have a plethora of market players offering similar products and services. Consequently, despite the increasing probability of burgeoning markets, customers will always have multiple options to satisfy their needs. According to Zhao (2005), not only does this fact lower the future profitability of an organization, but it also impedes its ability to compete against rival organizations. Averting the likelihood of such development requires the entrepreneurial organization to identify and implement new products or services unique enough to sell more than those provided by the competition.
