In business, different industries aim at producing products that are good and attract many customers. Before any artifact is released into the market, it has to be designed and selected amongst other products. The product has to be attractive and of high quality so as to be marketable as opposed to poor quality products. New products have to be screened before they are released into the market so as to measure their competitiveness in the desired market. This paper seeks to analyze how products end up in the market and the operations management strategies they undergo during the production period.
Proctor and Gamble is one of the world’s leading producers of beverages and beauty products. One of Proctor and Gamble’s product include Ariel washing detergent which was introduced into the market in 1967 in United Kingdom. Ariel ventured into the market as a new product although later variant has been derived. The new variants have been designed in a special way so as to succeed in current market demands. Planners analyzed its quality and drafted a temporary questionnaire so as to facilitate the launch of a new detergent. One of the operations requirements was whether the target customers would benefit from the product. Ariel washing detergent has to be of good quality so as to impress its customers. Ariel was introduced into the British domestic market but has expanded over the years to venture into new markets. The potential growth of the market is also required ant the level of its competitiveness in the market.
Apart from flourishing in Europe and the USA, Ariel has encountered some challenges in venturing in other continents. Proctor and Gamble Company have ensured that new companies have been established in various nations so as to ease its marketing process. Producing industries means that Ariel is well established in the new markets using the product screening process CITATION Mah10 \l 1033 (Mahadevan, 2010). Another product screening includes finances where proctor and Gamble has had to invest in a new market. Ariel is likely to be successful because it has been screened in a good way. In has been introduced in the African market and has surpassed other products in that market.
