Over the last four decades, Southwest Airlines has been a company that has depicted a very strong growth. Through the applications of low cost, no frill, customer relation, the strategy of point to point operation, the company has been able to make huge profits for the last few years (Gupta, 2016) For this positive growth, the company has been ranked to be among the best performing airline in the struggling airline industry. Many companies in this industries have made big losses within the same time while others have been declared bankrupt as Southwest airline continue to grow and equally remain profitable in the hostile market. The ability to remain at this position has however not been an easy climb for Southwest Airlines due to the fact that that the company is faced with a number of obstacles that range from internal to external challenges. Overcoming challenges within any business does not only involve putting normal measures in place but also involves creating a ground that is different from that of the competitors (Gupta, 2016).
