China, which is officially The People’s Republic of China is a country found within East Asia with a population of round 1.4 billion people. It ranks first in the world in terms of population while by total area; China is the third largest territory in the world(Fairbank & Goldman, 2018). The country is subdivided into 23 provinces and has five independent regions and 4 municipalities which are directly controlled (Ambler, Witzel& Xi, 2011). The economic reforms of 1978 in China have subsequently made the country’s economy to be the fastest growing one in the world and it has grown from a GDP of $150 billion since then to the current $13 trillion (Fairbank & Goldman, 2018). Further, the Purchasing power parity (PPP) currently places the Chinese economy as the strongest in the world. Moreover, the country holds the first rank in the world in terms of exports and the second largest world importer in the world. The official language in the country is the Standard Chinese with various other recognized languages. Beijing which is the largest city in the country also functions as the country’s capital city. The city holds an administrative, business and tourism status in the country and globally(Fairbank & Goldman, 2018.
