Significance of Effective Listening
Communication is a vital tool in all spheres life. It is what makes human beings different from other creatures. Listening is the most critical feature in communication since it is a skill as opposed to hearing which is a physical ability. In our daily lives, most people make the mistake of talking too much without considering their listener’s opinion, a mistake that leads to disagreements and altered relationships. This paper seeks to explicate why listening is more important than talking.
It is considered selfish to force a viewpoint on another person without giving them a chance talk. Effective listening is the core of efficient communication since it determines the outcomes of interactions between different parties. According to Ahmad, (2016), effective communication is so important in the corporate world that most companies train their employees in communication to improve their productivity. Effective listening is a critical part of the training since most problems in the corporate sector occur when one individual fails to listen and understand another employee’s point of view. Therefore, it is important for people in the corporate world to listen carefully before trying to assert their viewpoints on others.
