In the contemporary world, the main conveyor of information, news, and regular occurrence is the media. However, the media has been in the spotlight for covering news that focuses on the negative side on human actions (Casey & Owen, 2013).This paper would attempt to justify the allegation through analysis of the various situations where the media report bad news.
I agree that the media mainly focus on the negative part of life. They mainly concentrate on negative stories about corruption, accidents or even explosions (Casey & Owen, 2013). The media mainly focuses on the most stunning news and don’t give same gauge to the quantity of good news to bad news. They mostly report the bad news that makes the audience or receivers think the world is a terrible place. They mainly just attempt to make more cash with sensualization.
Besides, good news doesn’t sell. Similarly, the media put too much focus on the unproductive events because of the competition for the viewers and the rating they represent (Riff, Lacy &Fico, 2014).The competition forces the media to focus on occurrences that satisfy the viewers’ interest, and those events are always negative. The journalism profession of updating the society has changed to a hub of entertainment.
Alternatively, the media focuses on the negative news because most viewers would rather watch an unproductive story than a boring positive story (Casey & Owen, 2013). Besides, the ratings are what matters in all types of mediums (Robinson, 2015). And if the negative stories contribute to the ratings, then the media will continue focusing on the negative news (Riff, Lacy &Fico, 2014). Similarly, the media focuses on little stories more so about celebrities to achieve increased viewing and circulation. The media report bad news that is the most spectacular events of the day.
Most media report bad stories like shooting or demonizing an individual of their information. The bad news is too much thus making many people sad and mad (Robinson, 2015). Similarly, the media focuses too much on the negative news by generalizing the occurrences (Casey & Owen, 2013...
