Communication is an essential skill for anybody to possess. The right communication skills usually mean that networking is made much more relaxed. As a result, one can get on ahead in life much more comfortable than somebody who is not adept at the art of excellent communication. Contrary to most people's opinions, verbal communication is not the only way through which people communicate (Delamain, 2017). There are several modes of communication. Nonverbal communication, visual communication, and written communication are the modes through which contact occurs.
There are several communication skills that one may possess. While one owns a few of this, it is quite rare to find somebody who is blessed with all these skills. These skills range from active listening, respect, voice projection, a confident approach, and empathy for your audience (Kurtz, 2017). As a skilled communicator, I possess quite a few of these qualities. For example, I am a clear communicator who is usually able to get my message across a broad audience quite quickly. This is because I can project my voice and make it heard across a vast distance.
Another skill that I count among my strengths is engaging my audience by giving and receiving feedback from the audience; one is usually able to hold their attention for much longer. A simple way of going about this is, for example, by asking them to answer any questions that you request. You may also ask them to engage in a simple recital.
However, I also possess skills that I consider my weak areas. For example, I am usually not able to adapt my communication mode according to my audience. This has led to confusion. For example, my colleagues have stated that my speeches are usually too technical regardless of the education level
