A pet refers to any animal that human beings keep at home for varied reasons. The practice of taming animals by human beings can be traced from ancient times when man conducted the domestication process. Cats and dogs are the most popular pets in the world because a lot of individuals prefers them more than other animals. Many reasons can make a person to establish a friendship with cats and dogs. For example, the need for companionship enables many individuals to create social relations with these animals (McNicholas, 2014). Moreover, human beings are characterized by their nature of entertainment hence they decided to stay with these animals to acquire entertainments and even protection. For example, both dogs and cats are famous because they can be engaged in some plays within the home environment. Even though these pets have some importance to man, it is orderly to argue that cats are not better pets than dogs.
To begin, cats are not better pets than dogs because they cannot play the extensive role of providing security as compared to dogs. Cats are known as animals that spend most of the time in the house. Regarding safety, dogs are credited for being very vigilant within the house and even in the entire home compound (McNicholas, 2014).
