Communication is the action of exchanging information between two parties, people of entities. Communication could be verbal where the two entities exchange information face to face. Telephone can effect verbal communication. Television and radio are among forms of media where communication comes to life. Communication could be non-verbal. Non-verbal forms of communication include gestures, body language, and dressing code. Writing is another way of communicating. Written forms of communication include e-mails, magazines, letters, and books. Communication builds connection between people and places. A complete process of communication proves that the communication was effective. The process of communication circulates between the sender and receiver. It comprises of encoding, decoding, and feedback. Information requires encoding before choosing the right channel 0f communication. When a receiver gets the message, they decode the message for better understanding. Feedback from a sender is proof that communication is effective. This research paper gives detailed information on how to communicate effectively in public.
Public communication demands exceptional presentation and communication skills. Effective public communication ensures proper decoding of messages by the audience, who are the receivers. Public communication should leave the audience with the understanding of the message delivered. To communicate effectively in public, one needs to employ a number of strategies. To achieve effective public communication, one needs to be clear and simple. Clear and simple communication covers an all-round audience. Everyone understands and interprets the concepts transferred. Funny messages or speeches do not rhyme with somber moods. An important dimension in effective communication is the social-psychological dimension. It involves understanding ones audience before communication Wrench et al. (2012). Understanding the reasoning of audiences enables, a speaker understand what message to convey. A speaker knows the types and cultures of people in an audience. This makes a speaker understand how the audience will internalize different types of messages.
