It is a disappointment when one struggles for something and fails to achieve the desired item. Coping with this experience is one of the hardest times in life especially when it occurs in a situation beyond one control. In this essay, I will write about a failure scenario that left me with a scar of dissatisfaction.
I first experienced failure in 2012 when I graduated. Fortunately, I was invited for an interview at one of the leading industry. At that time, I was working as a trainee aiming to gain experience so as to be the best among other graduates with similar specialization. A phone call from the manager meant that I would soon bridge the gap between poverty and my family. The weak must struggle hard to win a survival battle against the high (Jarrick, 2013, p. 66). I, therefore, could not afford to lose this chance whatsoever.
I managed to pass all the interviews and was eagerly waiting for interviewers to let me know when to report. As per the program; they were aiming to recruit one person. Therefore, they had to make a critical decision to select the best among the two who passed the interview; the determinant was a comparison of work experience between us. My competitor had five years’ experience while I was a fresh graduate meaning that I failed the interview. I felt disappointed to an extent that I thought of accusing my competitor of bribery, and also saw it as a waste of time, having undergone five interviews only to fail at the final stage. It was beyond my control and therefore I could not appeal; instead, I decided to seek more experience for future preparation
