Is Feminism harmful or beneficial to the American Society?
When women converged in Beijing to demand equal rights, many thought of it as a usual bluff from the "ever- nagging species." A lot more happened on that day besides coining the cliché, "What a man can do, a woman can do it betterâ€. Feminist leaders took it upon themselves to misadvise their followers that they could be equal to men. Of course, we are not equal. Some women are capable of doing what 90% of the men cannot achieve in a lifetime. An example is Britain’s Iron Lady- Margaret Thatcher. In the same light, what some men can attain, 90% of the women cannot even dream about it. It is unfair to base a person’s success (or failure) on their gender. In my opinion, feminism has done more harm than good in the American society. Disclaimer: I am not a chauvinist by any means.
Before some frustrated single women, or wives of abusive men (cannot really tell which is which), decided to come up with the idea of feminism, women were perfect caretakers of the home. Nowadays, American women have redefined the term ‘taking care of the family’ to mean sharing house chores with their husbands. In my country Kenya- yes, I already know you think we are backward- it is unheard of for men to share house chores with their wives. Just like nature dictates, the role of a man is to provide and ensure security while the woman ensures the family remains intact. However, in the "modern" American society, women drink like their fathers but cannot cook like their mothers. In a pride of lions, the alpha male is exempted from all hunting responsibilities because his presence is a symbol of security and status. I wonder why humans are fighting tooth and nail to deviate from the laws of nature.
Feminism has turned many American men into a bunch of losers and "sissies" (if you may). Whenever I watch American TV shows- a clear reflection of the American society- scenes of men that opt to stay at home keep popping up. Whenever a grown man proudly declares, "I am a stay- at- home dad," I instantly lose hope for humanity. Feminism has corrupted the society to the extent that men feel it’s okay to be fed by their wives under the pretext of taking care of the children. The same applies to run- away- sperm donors ("Dad" is too precious a title to waste it on such dimwits). Since the modern American man perceives a woman as his equal, he does not feel guilty when walking away from his family. The high rate of divorce in American is partially because men have turned into big babies as a result of feminism (Odyniec, 2015).
The aspect of feminism has had an adverse impact on the public and private sectors alike. In reference to the constitution, presidents and HR managers feel obliged to admit women into their crews (Beaman, et al. 2009). Despite fighting for equality, wo...
