People tend to think that at the age of eighteen, an individual is legally an adult who can make a choice on important matters of life. In most states, a person at eighteen can vote or join to serve the military (Kozol, 2012). The decision on what is to be done lies with the individual. Moreover, in many countries dropping out of school before eighteen is a crime that can make one to be imprisoned. The paper is going to talk about why students should not be allowed to drop out of school before the age of eighteen due to the following reasons; first, education is essential for human development. Apart from the basic subjects taught in school, education helps a person learn how to relate to the community and know how to handle various situations in life (Smink, 2014). 
Jobs today are getting more competitive. The minimal requirement for one to be employed is at least a high school diploma and at the age of eighteen most students have not accomplished their high school studies. Hence, they cannot be employed or secure a job.
Thirdly, students dropping out of school before the age of eighteen are prone to be criminals as there is no occupation for them, and they need to take care of themselves and their families (Smink, 2014). Due to any skilled experience, the individual will not be employed in any company hence turning to be a criminal for his/her sustainability. Fourthly, students, who drop out before eighteen years most of them are immature upstairs. Female students will tend to be fooled and put in the family way without their consent leading to early parentages with no responsibility.
Last but not least, students who drop out of school at the tender age will become frustrated leading to the use of drugs (Smink, 2014). Most of these students end up being jailed for excessive use of drugs at a tender age. Finally, students should not be allowed to drop out of school before the age of 18 since they are not capable of making important decisions concerning their lives.
