While selecting the best qualities to survive the world after a nuclear attack, a few attributes have to be considered, chief among which is choosing a person who has your back when the going gets tough, which is bound to happen in such a crisis. Selecting the right group of people boils down to getting the right skills to help survive the attack and the aftermath. Survival skills such as cooking, basic first aid, clothing skills, running, negotiating, repair skills, and military skills are all useful skills that will serve well in the face of disaster. One should look for people who have strong family ties, want to build the lost society and make it better than its predecessor, individuals who are willing to help and finally people who are self-sufficient.
By following the criteria mentioned above, one can get a group of people that can work well together for the rest of the post-apocalyptic life. The first choice would have to be a medical professional, that is, the 30-year-old female MD, who is an avowed bigot. The Hippocratic Oath binds Doctors and other medical practitioners. And although her opinions may not be acceptable, a lot of care will be required immediately after the nuclear attack. Due to her importance to the group, one can count on the fact that she would not let her feeling come in the way of saving lives.
A nuclear attack would have immense implications for the survival of the remainder of the population and the country at large. An individual with a basic understanding of nuclear physics would be vital to the group; thus the 28-year-old male physicist would be an essential part. He would be able to determine the areas safe to inhabit while mapping out the areas to avoid. Also, having a person trained on how to use a gun is a bonus as the gun would be an added advantage; a weapon against any dangers the group might encounter.
Rebuilding the country would be a priority in the post-apocalyptic scenario. It is, therefore, necessary to have an individual trained in craftsmanship. A real prototype maker, preferably a generalist would be adequate to fill this position. An architect has basic engineering skills as well as well-developed design skills. The 34-year-old male architect will be able to map out the best areas to pitch the first camps and will eventually map out areas suitable and safe for the construction of permanent buildings and settlements.
