E03 Curriculum Development Name of student Name of institution Date Theme topic for a group of 3-year-old children An appropriate curriculum for 3-year-old children Based on their interest The above-mentioned theme is relevant since every parent wants the best for their children and also every child in society deserves to get the best from their parents and the government. Based on the child's interests, several factors tend to affect the ability of children in the curriculum. Consequently, to provide the best learning opportunities and give the best care for children, then parents and the government need to understand how the 3-year-old learns and grows based on the child's interest and not for parents or the government. For teachers, the joy of teaching is appreciating the learner’s abilities and interests. Simanowski & Krajewski (2019), children tend to perform well in a friendly and cool environment where they are encouraged to express their interests and feelings. Beaver & Wyatt (2022), 3-year-old is also known as social age since children become more engaged and serious in playing with their fellow children. Additionally, during this age, the child tends to have more interest in other children and is more affectionate. Also, children tend to be kind during this stage of child development and children often default to drawing pictures for their friends or even picking flowers for their children. However, children at this stage do not know to differentiate between purposeful and accidental actions. Children at this age sometimes easily get upset if things do not work out as expected. Hence, this topic is relevant to understanding how children have different interests in different aspects of the child development process. This essay is based on the quality of children’s interests and the excellence of the children’s learning and understanding. The quality of learning experiences of children in this stage of development is seen using observable behavioural aspects of children's interests. Beatty (2019), many scholars have a different view regarding child development, however, some scholars have a good interest in a play-based approach which works for up to 4 years. Additionally, other scholars have more interest in the formal approach which is based on predicting the hypothetical abilities when a child joins the school. In summary, the curriculum for children at 3 years old should consist of practices for more successful results. Handelzalts (2019), it is significant for the curriculum to be composed of the awareness of the development of literature, play, and oral language. The children need to be exposed to an environment where they build physical confidence and get equipped with the good skills necessary to coordinate with each other while they play and build community relationships. At this stage of child development, teachers, parents, and the government should focus on enabling the children to believe in themselves since this helps build social self-esteem. The curriculum should not major in teaching technical or complex content since children at this stage cannot absorb or understand complex ideas. At this age, based on the child’s interest, it is important to provide a secure, inviting, and safe learning environment where children feel appreciated and naturally love the environment or school. Theme topic for a group of 8-year-old children An appropriate curriculum for 8-year-old children Based on Meeting the program goals The 8-year-old children is a stage of child development whereby they develop connections with the adults who are outside their home and such adults include trusted grown-ups, teachers, coaches, and distant relatives, among others. This theme is quite relevant because it tends to meet the program goal because during this age children tend to be very enthusiastic about developing their own goals through interaction with their life role models, and mentors through direct conversation with fellow children and adults. Simanowski & Krajewski (2019), this makes the children more confident, makes the children feel competent, valued and able to achieve their own great goals in life. It is important to note that, during this age, children tend to be very cheerful in almost all class activities but may easily get dull if ignored by teachers or even fellow children. Beaver & Wyatt (2022), in many societies across the world, children at 8 years old prefer to stay in gender-based groups, this is because they tend to fear standing alone for fear of embarrassment. This makes the children at 8 years old prefer working or operating in a group. However, some children at 8 years old become more conscious about their talents and notice their weaknesses which may result in embarrassment since they are not properly empowered with the abilities and hence will automatically avoid performing certain activities in public. For instance, a child at 8 years old may prefer to dance in private and not in public, while others may also decide to draw arts in public while others in private where they feel less competition. The society provides an excellent channel for 8-year-old children to interact with the learned elders in the society who tend to nature them to grow with great confidence in all their undertakings (Handelzalts 2019). Additionally, this group of children have a very good attention span and can concentrate for good hours in classroom work hence producing excellent results. The teachers should find a way to encourage the children at this stage of development since the children tend to have a clear vision in attaining the theme of their goals. It ...
