Teaching is a calling more than it is professional training. Handling hordes of students daily, dealing with undisciplined and rowdy students, or preparing stacks of lesson plans while also keeping up with developments in the field are some of the challenges faced by the modern teacher. As such, numerous young trainees are opting to venture into other jobs instead. In the same spirit, teachers are not as competitively paid as in different sectors, and governments barely provide as many opportunities for professional development. Therefore, the government can make a teacher's professional more appealing by increasing wages, funding schools, and providing sensible professional development opportunities.
Traditionally, the teacher was revered just like a king for his or her skills, knowledge, and status.
