Plagiarism is an act of taking someone's work, pasting them into your work and passing them as your own. It is regarded as plagiarism when one doesn’t acknowledge the owner of the original work. It is not easy to recognize plagiarism as it takes different forms.
When a closer look is taken in the text that the student provided it is not easy to identify plagiarism because the student used in-text citation and started well by rephrasing the work. However, in the last two sentences, the student fails to rephrase the work properly. The student poorly paraphrased the work as he directly extracted the work and notably, plagiarism is easily seen.
One of the better ways that the sentences would be: “according to Crossen (1994), some researchers seem to be professional scientists of which that are not the case. The reason to this being that; They end the study too early, publish them too soon, never publish any negative results, ignore drawbacks, and rush over their work which leads to the production of poor quality research findings. All these happen despite rigorous scientific rules and often critical scrutiny (Crossen, 1994)". The student just copy pasted some words directly word by word by only changing some little words to make a difference but which is straight plagiarism.
It is also easy nowadays to check for plagiarism by numerous ways. One of the ways to find plagiarism is by the use of software programs where individuals run their cop[y of work and the software does the finding of plagiarized parts of the work. The program produces a report of the plagiarized paper and the percentage of plagiarism. It also gives the origin of the statement. On notification of the plagiarized part it is crucial for the writer to compare with his work and by this, it is easy to note which parts need more attention to paraphrase and do proper citation.
Another way of identifying plagiarism is by familiarizing on the field you are writing on. By knowing clearly the area of writing it is easy to know the author of the work. Furthermore, it would be important to read from the field on which the work is based on. This is a good way of understanding the topic broadly and minimizing the possibility of paraphrasing other writers’ works. Though it is not easy to know all the authors because authors are so many with different books on the same subject.
