Free healthcare has remained an influential concept because it allows all public members to seek healthcare despite their economic and social statuses. Today, the healthcare industry has become a multibillion-dollar industry that leaves most patients economically crippled after curing their diseases. Many states have been endorsing free healthcare services as a method to eliminate unfairness in the healthcare sector. Therefore, the free healthcare provision strategy has had a remarkable impact on the overall socio-economic structures. Nevertheless, free healthcare also creates strains and struggles in the quality of services provided to the citizens. The paper explores some of the most excellent pros and cons associated with free healthcare.
Advantages
The provision of free healthcare lowers the living costs in a free market system because residents don’t have to worry about doctor fees. Ideally, some of the patients are dug into debt trying to resolve their conditions from the hospital settings (Witter et al., 2018). With free healthcare services, the healthcare sector downsizes its unhealthy competition and equally addresses healthcare conditions. In many healthcare facilities, doctors have ignored the low-class patients to cater for wealthy people who can afford hefty bills. Socially, children are the focus of any country, meaning their healthcare should prioritise (Witter et al., 2018). The provision of free healthcare improves child health and reduce the occurrence of complicated diseases in the future. In general, free healthcare provision boosts the economy by improving the wellness and productivity of citizens.
