TO WHAT EXTENT IS THE USE OF ANIMALS IN SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH ACCEPTABLE
Over the years, animals have proven to help a great deal in the medicine industry when manufacturing of drugs in order to cure diseases caused by either viruses or bacteria. It is estimated that over one hundred million animals have been used in scientific research each year and of which includes scientific research in universities, major hospitals and research laboratories.
Up to date, we have faced many major discoveries in the medicine sector but for us to reach this point, we have had to sacrifice many living creatures of which include animals. This has raised concern over the years with many people advocating for the use of animals to conduct such research to come to an end. However this has not only been disadvantageous but also more advantageous .
People who are against animal testing would argue that most of the research conducted is usually not for medicinal advancement but for personal benefit. For example, many cosmetic industries would pretend to be conducting animal research but in real sense they are producing new types of cosmetic products to sell to the ready and available market and earn themselves a good income rather than generating new drugs. For this reason many people believe that animal testing should be banned.
