THE SEPARATION ADVANTAGE? SINGLE-SEX EDUCATION AND ITS EFFECTS
In today’s diverse academic environment some schools of thought might argue that the existence of single-sex schools is not beneficial, which I may agree, citing that citing that boys and girls, narrowing down to education, need to communicate and socialize on a day to day basis. This has made it become a very controversial issue debated on every bit of its complexity and neutrality. I may also support their existence being enforced to help children fully attain their dreams without humility being a hindrance. School is and is supposed to be a place where students get acquainted with the basics of life which further helps them to foster their proficiency level in different aspects of life required in this competitive world and I think the most important part of school is not where students get to socialize with each other.
Co-ed schools might be the first choice for most adolescents and their parents but I think single-sex schools are equally good. In single-sex schools students don’t have to worry about sexual attraction of the opposite sex. This enables them to concentrate more in their studies and less on socialization and other social institutions. On the other hand I think studying in Co-ed schools could help young boys and girls understand the meaning and art of friendliness and considerations regarding the opposite sex when it comes to matters socialization.
To add on that, single sex schools provide students with significant positive effects which include, as stated above, the culmination of the absence of the opposite gender in their academic environment which encourages high academic consideration resulting in excellent test scores. Moreover teachers in these schools could add special curriculum skills such as needlework for females whilst males could attend to particular physical education classes.
