Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is a disease that impacts both the heart and the brain. It is brought on by blockages that occur in blood vessels obstructing the flow of blood. Lipoproteins are located in the blood and are rich in cholesterol and triglycerides, linked to a higher prevalence of cardiovascular disease. The essay will highlight various studies that highlight the relationship and the impact nuts’ consumption has on cardiovascular disease prevalence.
Various nuts have been identified to impact lipid profiles, which have a direct bearing on the prevalence of cardiovascular disease. Nouran, Kimiagar, Abadi, Mirzazadeh, & Harrison (2009) conducted a study to highlight how peanuts’ consumption impacted lipid profiles. The study was conducted in Tehran, Iran, consisting of men between 25 to 65 years of age and they were taken through a randomized crossover clinical trial. There was a total of 54 hypercholesterolemic patients in the trial. Evidence collected from the study indicated patients who consumed peanuts were largely impacted in terms of their body weight, blood pressure, and cholesterol. The peanut effect highlighted patients who used peanut across the habitual diet period were less likely to suffer from cardiovascular disease than those who used peanut across the supplement diet period (Nouran, Kimiagar, Abadi, Mirzazadeh, & Harrison, 2009). The data points to the importance of peanut’s chronic use since it reduces the likelihood of cardiovascular disease.
