Chinese immigration dates back from the late 19th century. They came in groups and at different times in history. From the statistics done in 2016, the population is at 2.3 million or 5% of the immigrations living in the US by 2016. They started from a small group, and now the community is rising to a more significant number. Furthermore, China stands at number three on the foreign-born groups in the United States, coming strictly after Mexican and Indians. The economic crisis motivated the first china the immigrants to united stated in the 1850s that the china country was going through. Many Chinese citizens were escaping the mess where they finally landed in the United States. Another critical factor that made Chinese to migrate to the United States is the California gold rush (Carlson, 2012). Most single men who worked in the gold rush wanted to own gold where they worked in different gold mines.
In 1882, China immigrants in the US had established different businesses such as restaurants, while others worked in rail construction, agriculture lands, and in industrial jobs where the pay was low. However, many protests emerged from other European American on Chinese dominance in the 1870s that led to the exclusion of chines immigrants in the United States by a federal act passed by Congress in 1882. Chinese were able to compete for a better job, attributed by their low wages. In the current world, the reasons why China are migrating in large numbers range from political reforms, infrastructure improvement, education as well as pollutions.
