Learning and teaching have been a major part of shaping the contemporary society. The environment of learning has been named as a significant part of the normal business to both colleges and universities. Therefore, it is important to identify the nature of learning at work to that of higher learning and identify what this point of view might contribute to an understanding of how to make learning more effective in a formal setting (Boud &Rooney,2015). Skill development is the case where the highly qualified personnel are most likely to participate in learning activities. Nevertheless, learning in the workforce might include observational learning. This is where one learns by watching a real-life example (Short & Harris, 2014). With the emergence of technology, an outside observer might think that higher education has posted all it takes to enhance education and that its knowledge is complete. For instance, technology inspires the learner to seek more information online. As a teacher, I encouraged my students to embrace technology in facilitating their learning. For example, I would issue online assignments and tasks that would require them to search for online materials and submit the assignment online.
Conversely, it is challenging to distinguish the personnel of training and learning from the effect of globalization mainly in the western nations where the influence of neoliberal policy and marketplace deregulation have molded the homily on industrial competency, material management and much more. Technological innovation has greatly changed the way people are trained and educated, while at the same time it has become a major tool in improving business capacity and increasing workforce services and abilities.
Interestingly, as time passes by, people have disregarded the traditional style of training. Only ten percent of learning is done during the training while ninety percent learning takes place during job training (Boud & Rooney, 2015). Nevertheless, I am a product of traditional style training where most of the learning practices were accomplished inside the class.
In response to this trend, leaders implement numerous initiatives in creating a learning culture in their organization (Short & Harris, 2014).
