Culture and the Process of Social Transmission in a Society
Culture is basically a way of life of a certain group of people who share the same beliefs, have a common origin and resemble behavior from their fore fathers. Through assumption, people get exposed to a particular behavior from the physical environment hence culture is passed. The position of culture in our society today is critical since it determines a person’s human nature. What does it mean? They are in the least allowed to choose the ways of life they prefer. Below I am going to explore culture and its subsequent social transmission in a society. To successfully understand culture and the process of social transmission I am going contemporary cultural engagements within the society in the world today.
To begin with, cultural persistence is essentially a question of social transmission (Cavalli et al, 1981). This denotes the cultural elements of social orientations, knowledge, skills and behavior being socially transmitted which it includes their daily rituals, For the transmission to occur, then communication has to take place. The adult generation basically plays the role of teaching the younger generation preparing ground for culture continuity. According to Mendelan recombination and neo- Darwinian Theory of natural selection, the specific responses acquired by any human being are lost in generations with the death of their acquirer. This means that for the success of culture transmission, homogeneity in the behavior of the members must reflect their common genetic material in all population members [Bartlett’s(1932)] The survival tension of the capable patterns as a result of interaction in relation to conspecifics, as well as from nonsocial aspects of nature, are relatively straightforward . This brings about divisions among members of different ethnicities, races and religious groups.

Highly developed sciences, social and religious rituals are a product of cumulative process of cultural evolution, where each generation builds on the achievement of their predecessors in a gradual manner in complexity (Caldwell et al 2020 e1516). Some cultures believes that they are more superior than others but social interaction provides for an improved tradition that merges with suggests that children are prone to over imitation where they copy both task relevant and task irrelevant behaviors.
