Question 1
Kris, 25 years man received probation at the age of 13 after being involved in a battery theft. During his juvenile probation, Kris was put under further probation due to the case on trespassing. However, he completed the probation at the juvenile stage. Currently, Kris is facing his first adult felony. History indicates that there is no one who has ever been involved in criminal charges in the family. He recently recovered from mental challenges, enabling him to graduate from a high school. He occasionally bumps into a local pub to enjoy with friends. Kris is trying all he can stay away from friends who already have suggested him taking alcoholic drinks on top of abusing drugs. He plans to make college studies and then engage in a business. Few months ago, he got married and was anticipating to a life with hostile situations during and after incubation.
Robert and I share some views in common. For instance, Kris should consider visiting weekly, hence making it possible for him to complete the probation successfully. However, we differ in some aspects. One of these differences is that Robert perceives that the institution could be violating Kris’s right through instigating a regular drug test. I think such a move would land Kris into a hitch could cops find any traces of the drug. The effects could risk the probation agency.

Contrary, the parole officer will order a reasonable search in the probationer’s residence in order to clear air of the allegations made (Tonry, 2000).
Question 3
Probation usually keeps the offenders in the community, but it reduces their freedom. Probation may arise with many conditioned attached; such as meeting regularly with a probation officer, staying under house arrest during certain days, taking random urine test, remaining drug-free, doing community jobs, and participating in substance abuse or mental health treatment. In the case the offender does not comply with the probation conditions, more stringent supervisions might apply. Duff (2003) argues, “halfway houses are utilized as an intermediate housing option to help a person return from prison to the community after he has served a prison sentence. In case the person sentence is short, halfway houses hold that role. For example, the halfway houses may be right choice in case the felon has served time in prison, been released on parole, and then violated a parole condition and been ordered to serve a few months additional time for that violation. Public shaming is a form of public humiliation that is subjected to offenders for low-level misdemeanors. For example, a court ordered a convicted mail thief to stand outside a post office for a total of 120 hours wearing a shirt that said, “I am a mail thief, avoid this shame” (143-144). This kind of treatment tends to rehabilitate offenders and discourage them from repeating the felony.
