{Title} {Name} {University} The Significance of Water Water is among the most significant substances in the universe. All plants as well as animals must have water to live. Other water usage are domestic such as; cooking, washing bodies, clothes, cooking and eating utensils, keeping houses as well as communities clean, keeping plants flourishing in gardens and parks, recreation; like swimming pools. Water is also vital for the healthy progress of farm yields and farm stock as well as being used in the manufacture of numerous products. The hydrological cycle Water vapor is conveyed by wind and air currents in the atmosphere. Upon cooling, condensation takes place in the clouds then water fall in form of: rain, hail, snow, or sleet. When it reaches the ground, it takes many paths to the atmosphere. Plants can absorb them; stored in a lake, ocean, river, or stream; evaporated by the sun; taken into the soil temporarily; or drawn by gravity into the soil to be kept for centuries as groundwater. Some ground water can reappear on the surface as water supply in lakes as well as rivers. Ground surface water can return to the atmosphere by evaporation. The water from plants can return back to the atmosphere by transpiration. Transpiration happens when water permeates through the plant leaves. Evaporation as well as transpiration—known jointly as evapotranspiration—occurs through the time of dry air, wind, sunshine or high temperatures. Why test water? Consistent testing is essential to control specific water quality problems. * To help ensure usage of water suitable for the intended agricultural purpose. * To help ensure the safety of the drinking water. * To help determine that water treatment system is effective. The water source quality may transform over time, occasionally suddenly. Much transformation can go undetected as the water may appear, taste and smell the similar to the way it was. Observing water quality is essential to ensure your cure system is working efficiently, providing the finest quality water for projected use. The water we consume at home is perhaps the most vital safety concerns to observe. It's unfortunate, that contaminated water can appear the same as uncontaminated water. Muddy or cloudy water may just have harmless sediment. Requirements present in the water testing kit * Plastic pipettes and the 10 milliliter graduated cylinder. These are present in the pockets in the cover of the kit. * 50 mL beaker for carrying the tap water. * Five test tubes that have test papers in them. They will be pH paper 4.0-7.0, pH paper 6.5-10 (or as backup pH 1-14), Hardness, Chlorine, and Nitrate/nitrite. * A Color Chart for Test Papers and Test Strips. Procedure Results Conclusion A small 50mL beaker to about 40 mL was filled then pH test papers dipped in the water and left for some seconds. The pH paper turned to dark blue, pH 7.5 The tap water was neutral Nitrate/Nitrite and Chlorine tests to test the hardness or alkalinity. Chlorine test strip was swirled in the water 3 times. It was then taken to the chart and read before 10 seconds 0.5 to 3 parts per million (ppm) chlorine. It has very little chlorine Nitrate/Nitrite test paper was the...
