The media is a communications platform through which news, information inspirational messages, and advertisements is being aired to the general public. The media is composed of both print and broadcast. The print media is comprised of newspapers, community letters, wire services and magazines on the on the hand the broadcast media covers a broad spectrum of different communication methods such as television and radio. The broadcast media offer diverse information such as the documentaries, speeches, business markets and daily news design by Journalists.Primarily the main purpose of the media was to report news by Conveying the words and pictures about events, facts, personalities, and ideas. First Amendment protections keep the flow of news as free as possible (freedom of speech). With a world full of competition and emerging trends, there was a need for media households to develop niche markets and diversify the needs of their consumers. Thus extension of product lines by the media house by introducing various pools to expand their market share.It is essential for the broadcast media team and the written press team to produce a content that doesn’t confuse the general public. The standards of information should be maintained to avoid controversy on the minds of the people. Recently due to rapid growth of the media industry the need for media houses to outdo each other has rose. This calls for quality fair broadcasts to survive in the market. Recent study has shown that media consumers invest on quality news that doesn’t compromise one fairness.Prior to 2002, there has been a decreasing level of trust on the media by the people with the slim majority claiming they had a fair amount of confidence. This might have been contributed by factors such as striving for popularity by media houses. Biased broadcast is a threat to media houses since it can make them stretch to maturity growth stage that sometimes can lead to closure of the media firm. Under the fairness doctrine biased broadcast is violation of the law and can result in penalties such as termination of the performance contract with the government and being reassigned with frequencies to air the shows. Fairness is exploring and putting together all sides of a bulletin accurately.Journalist prime duty is to examine the motives of their personal affection and emotions do not condition the content of broadcast they offer to the third party. The language and tone of the presentation of show should be esteemed to avoid inaccurate and biased representation of the original facts. There should be no other motive by journalists other than presenting original content from verified sources.
With creation and covering of news the media a journalist should unmask information that is being speculated by the people for example the name of victims of death and injury should not be exposed until their immediate relatives have been identified. In some grounds, the people can provide valuable support by presenting information to the media houses. Information provided by witnesses must be analyzed by news managers to ensure that they are accurate.The electronic media is a vital tool during disasters and emergencies in such occasions there’s need to create news, to cut down the anticipation of the general public. There’s need for the media houses to cover special events so that the people are being updated on what is happening at the event.
