The September 11th attacks left permanent marks in the life of Americans living both in the United States and outside. Although more than a decade has passed since that eventful day, life has never been the same again.
One of the most profound ways that my life has changed has been in relation to air travel. Unlike in the past when one could board a plane without any restrictions as long as they had the right travel documents, things have changed and today travelling around is a nightmare. Just like most Americans, there are many times when I have been forced to dispose of certain things that were precious to me simply because they could not be allowed in the plane. This security consciousness has gotten to the point where Americans no longer have any sense of security as the government has set up mechanisms that seek to monitor what people are doing even in the privacy of their homes.
Apart from not being able to travel freely as in the past, the relations between Americans and other nations ...
