GUEST SPEAKER 1: ASHLEY WILES
Ashley Wiles is the 2x Ironwoman and a Canadian entrepreneur of sole girls, an organization that teaches young women how to be successful in business. She has also been featured on Dragon's Den, a TV show where entrepreneurs pitch their ideas for businesses to investors. She started her company at age 19 when she attended university and needed money for tuition fees (ashleywiles.com). She had some experience baking with her mother growing up, so she decided to start selling cupcakes to raise funds for the school. She quickly realized that it wasn't just about making money but creating something that people enjoyed (solegirls.org). After only three months of selling cupcakes, she quit her job and focused all her time on growing her business (viasport.ca). Now sole girls are recognized as one of Canada's fastest-growing companies and have grown to over 100 employees across Canada (linkedin.com/ashleywiles)
Ashely Wiles main topic of discussion is youth empowerment. Sole Girls empowers youth through shared values of compassion, courage, community leadership, goal setting, and growth mindset to create positive change in themselves and their communities. I would also like Ashley Wiles to talk about her experience on Dragon's Den; if someone was thinking of going on Dragon's Den, what advice would you give them? In addition, what is one piece of advice that has helped shape your career as an entrepreneur so far? Lastly, I would like Ashley Wiles to talk about some of her long-term goals for Sole Girls.
