Instructions:
T he arguments of gun control advocatesGun control advocates include a number of NGOs and political organizations that believe it is the responsibility of the government to prevent crime and deaths and not that of citizens. Some of the main gun control advocates are: the Democratic Party, American State Legislators for Gun Violence Prevention, Every Town for Gun Safety, Stop Handgun Violence, Faiths United to Prevent Gun Violence, Brady Campaign, and others. The main argument of gun control advocates is that the Second Amendment does not guarantee unlimited rights regarding gun ownership. To argue for this, they give examples of various historical regulations even before the Second Amendment which were used to limit the access to guns for certain categories of people. They also cite part of the sentence in the Columbia v. Heller decision which explicitly mentions that gun rights are not unlimited. The second argument in favor of gun control is that it would reduce the number of death source..

Gun Control Implementation Reducing Number of Deaths Name Course Institutional Affiliation Date Gun Control Implementation Reducing Number of Deaths Firearms violence has been a fact of life in the US, and mass shootings occur with terrifying regularity. Gun control has resulted in a charged discussion with different people presenting their arguments differently. Some view it as the responsibility of the governments to ensure deaths and crimes are prevented and not the role of the citizens. On the other side, the argument reads that gun control reduces the number of deaths. All these arguments aim to ensure that the entire country and the citizens at large enjoy peace. Although the government should be protecting civilians, gun control is a measure that should be implemented. This is because, as has been witnessed earlier, law enforcement agencies have been protecting citizens, and many policemen have been able to heroically save people amid shootings, even at the expense of their own lives. Nevertheless, it will not be possible for police to always protect everyone everywhere. This means that owning guns greatly assists the arms owners to have a sense of-and actual safety (Smith & Spiegler, 2020). Proposing gun control does not translate to taking guns away from citizens. The argument is in support of the Second Amendment, stating: "a well-regulated Militia, being necessary for the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed" (Rathbun, 2019). Proposing gun control is also supporting the decision by the supreme court in 2008, which validated the interpretation of the amendment protecting the right of an individual to be in ownership of a gun not related to being in service of a militia and to utilize the gun for a lawful reason like self-defense within one's homestead. With ownership of gums being controlled, the arms are not sold to the wrong hands. Implementation of gun control aims to ensure that the world is safer as it limits guns from landing in the wrong hands. This consequently will reduce the number of deaths, as previously noted. This can be facilitated through the use of universal background checks done on both private and gun show sales, thus preventing both criminals and mentally ill people from acquiring arms (Smith & Spiegler, 2020). Additionally, with the installation of safety devices on firearms, accidental gun deaths would be reduced mostly by children. Also, having gun control reduces deaths as the controls prevent the wrong guns from being sold. Guns whose magazines have high capacity allow someone to shoot many times without reloading. Such guns turn murderers into mass murderers. For instance, in Florida in 2018, seventeen people were left dead during a school shooting, and fourteen were lef...
