While compared to other neighboring countries, Guyana ranks poorly in terms of basic health indicators. However, although the country ranks poorly as compared to most of the Caribbean countries, there has been remarkable progress from 1988. Additionally, the ministry of health is continuously working to improve procedures and to upgrade facilities and conditions. There are different organizations that help in the promotion of health care innovation in Guyana through the implementation of new and improved technologies such as inclusive digital technologies. These technologies involve the application of ICT with high impacts on the social wellbeing of patients. When such technologies are effectively implemented within the health sector they become an important driver of the general wellbeing. The technologies together with other programs help in dealing with the challenges facing the healthcare system in Guyana. Effective healthcare management systems improve healthcare services which in turn leads to customer satisfaction
Innovation in healthcare systems in Guyana
The national health sector in Guyana set strategies in 2008-2012 that involved plans to provided equitable healthcare services to its citizens regardless of their social status regardless of their ability to pay. The innovations and change in the healthcare system will be based on the ideas of equity In the distribution of opportunities in health, knowledge, services as well as the services that are consumer-oriented, user-friendly and focuses on the people.
