Homosexuality: Name: Institution:
Introduction
Homosexuality is an extremely emotive issue because it touches on different facts that hold up the society as we know it. It is considered morally obscene, culturally detestable and politically an issue that doesn’t seem to go away (Logan, 2000).
Homosexuality should be legalized because; it’s the constitutional right of every individual to engage in the lifestyle of their choice. Also, since the Constitution does not prescribe the standard or perfect marriage, fighting against homosexuality might only provoke those that engage in polygamy; who see marriage to only one partner as limiting, bisexuality; who consider one partner as unfair because it makes them choose which partner gets the legal recognition, bestiality, etc. So before continuing the campaign against homosexuality let the definition of a standard marriage be stipulated and enshrined in law (Sterngass, 2012).
Homosexuality promotes strong family values and encourages child adoption. Consequently, this has reduced the number of children brought up outside the home setting without guardians to take care of their needs. The family's missing parents has increased considerably. Similarly, the number of parents desiring children of their own but can have none has also increased. Therefore, the gay fraternity has in a way filled a vacuum (Sterngass, 2012).
Homosexuality causes no injury to the intersex married individuals. Also, none of the freedoms that a heterosexual enjoys conflict with the homosexuals rights. Both can co-exist if they just look past their moral convictions. Furthermore, more heterosexual marriages as compared to gay marriages are ending up in divorce and other forms of abuse; inflicted on either partner or children. Therefore, it’s necessary that these unions are given a chance for it’s the only sane thing to do society is to claim its evolving. These marriages might just change the wrong picture of marriage as it’s currently known (Sterngass, 2012).
The union of two consenting people as in a marriage is fundamentally motivated by love. As long as the parties are willing to cohabit and love each then it should be allowed. Marriage is a life commitment; therefore, if the partners are in agreement on the terms and conditions for the wedding then there should be no reason social, political or otherwise that should hinder their desires (Sterngass, 2012).
Legalization of homosexuality would inevitably mean that the partners in such a marriage ought to comply with the statutory regulations that govern heterosexual marriages. Therefore, the homosexuals would be mandated to pay taxes and make their required contributions to the state’s kitty by virtue of being legally married. Due to this, their dependency on donor generated funds such as Medicaid (Staver, 2008).
Most people do not have personal differences with the homosexuals as they are ready to coexist with them. This group of tolerant citizens only malign themselves from the gays because of their religious and church affiliation (Sterngass, 2012). The legalization of homosexuality won’t tamper with the church’s beliefs contrary to what many people think. Legalization of gay marriages won’t necessarily mandate or impose upon the churches a legal obligation to officiate the union of parties engaged in such. ...
