How the World is Considered as a Small Entity Due to Globalization
In the contemporary era, the world has been turned into “a global village”. The latter is used as a reference to how the world is considered as a small entity due to globalization. Owing to globalization, people in different countries can interact and integrate their activities while ensuring that they are interdependent on each other. Globalization is a phenomenon that has made it possible for global populations, economies, and cultures to interact and integrate. The main components of globalization include information, investments, goods, technology, and the labor market. The components have often created a conducive environment for cross-border interactions. Overall, although globalization has presented some adverse effects on the environment and people’s health, its positive benefits in international trade and cross cultural exchanges far outweigh the negative elements.
One of the positive attributes that can be associated with globalization is the emergence of an international market. Chapeyama (2012) contends that this aspect of globalization has provided an opportunity for individual nations to produce plenty of goods for their local and external markets. By being part of the global market, countries thrive economically, which is proof that not a single state can be self-sufficient. The existence of a global market has often provided an avenue for worldwide integration. Furthermore, the availability of a global market is seen as a catalyst for foreign investments. Investors from developed countries have chosen to invest their money in developing countries owing to the opportunities that globalization presents. In the process, citizens of such nations access job opportunities since they are enlisted to work in such firms. Evidently, globalization aids in the creation of worldwide market place where supply and demand elements are interconnected.
Globalization has also been associated with cross-cultural management. As a result, it has led to the creation of a global culture. Most countries have begun to borrow from other cultures as they strive to enhance their economic, political, social, and spiritual well-being. In other instances, states have embraced the culture of gender equality, an aspect that allows women to be at the same par with men. Other than cross-cultural management, globalization has provided an avenue for reducing poverty levels. For this reason, the gulf between the rich and the poor has reduced significantly. Since globalization has increased education opportunities among young people, there has been a consistent decline of unemployment levels in developed and developing countries. Owing to the cross-cultural element of people across the globe, various societies have been able to borrow beneficial customs from others, thus improving their living standards.
