Is Communism a thing of the Past?
Communism promises an extremely lucrative proposition to individuals who feel that the capitalist system is unfair. However, in reality, the system is hardly promising, even for the poor and desperate masses who are likely to experience initial relief, and then start longing for the benefits that only come with capitalism. While the doctrines of Communism are workable, the major challenge is that they lead to super unproductive economies. Overall, Communism is widely considered a thing of the past as it robes citizens of their freedom, eliminates free market, and promotes corruption among leaders.
Communism is largely defunct as it eliminates free-market, thereby eradicating the incentive or opportunity for common citizens to satisfy their desires for greater alternatives. The reason is that in Communism, prices are set by the government rather than the laws of demand and supply. According to Solzhenitsyn (2018), Communism only serves to offer basic needs to the common man. In so doing, the system removes the motivation for individuals to struggle and get more successful.
