Introduction
The type of crime presented by Ann Rule in Kiss me and Blind date is the crime of passion. Her book has about ten stories on crime, however Kiss me, Kill me seems to be the longest story for it has 127 pages and it talks of a youthful pregnant lady who got killed in her home. The Bad blind date is a short story and like most of the other short stories averages about 28 pages. Ann Rule comes out very brilliantly in her creativity to take readers into the lives of her victims before they are murdered in cold blood. However, this evokes an intricate emotional response on the part of her readers for they feel that they kind of already knew these victims before they were murdered (Rule, 2011).
Discussion
The Blind date like all of her other short stories are not enjoyable like her Kiss me the longest study in her book since they all strike readers like they would have been full books in themselves. In Kiss me Kill me the narrator is as a matter of fact a close friend of the uncle of the victim. Most of her stories are based on real life experience where she knows her victims. True files on crimes are ideal for readers that tend to follow criminal investigations. One of the reasons why some of these murders disturb the narrator so much is because she knew either the victims or their relatives in person (Turner and Kosa, 2003).
In this extra ordinary depiction of lovers who turn out to be vicious murderers and the unsuspecting women as well as men who eventually turn out to be their unwitting victims; Ann Rule creatively unmasks shocking and caption making cases of motives that change passion and love into extra ordinary crimes. Through her recount of a number of cases where those who sought true love found themselves taking terribly wrong actions she provides a cautionary tale for the cohort that tends to trust too much too soon. Her fist case recounts how an ex marine judo trainer perfected his act of seducing women and destroying their lives (Welner, 2005).
Jerry Yetes a crime detective who was the uncle of the victim in Kiss me Kill me was saddened that he had to lose his niece to a killer who remained unknown. As a matter of fact his unit was in charge of investigations into such cases which included; missing individuals, homicides, sex crimes and robberies. He was particularly head of the missing persons department. As much as he was extra ordinarily hardworking in finding people whose loved ones had reported to be missing it was ironical that he had to lose his own loved one in such an unkind manner. As much as investigators in homicide cases tend to do their best in solving such cases in Jerry Yates case they promised to not just do their best but even vowed not to settle till they cracked the whip on his niece murder mystery (Wilson, 2008).
This proved to be a bizarre case that was even marked by baffling circumstances. At first the ferocious and brutal murder of an innocent 16 year old girl was somehow a small challenge to trained and experienced detectives. However, numerous suspects that may have murdered Sandy Bowman started emerging. This clouded the investigation with several false leads that ultimately on had frustrating ends (Witzig, 2009).
As much as many individuals would like to think that heart crimes tend to victimize only people that tend to be careless this must read story convinces people otherwise. Ann Rule in this particular account reveals how those who love each other eventually become predators, how sex and lust pushes individuals in doing desperate acts as well as how investigators and forensics work hard in order to unravel the most entrapped passion crimes. Ann Rule has made these volatile relationships completely real and creatively recreates ill fated event chains in cases like the martial arts master and the ex marine who went on to seduce venerable women and then completely destroyed their lives (Zulawski, 2012).
These included the killer who had a calling card that became a single bloodied rose the stage of the killer’s brutality that was set by a blind date as well as the unfaithful wife who had a passion for manipulating and killing without a sense of conscience.
