Microtheme
The centralized themes are the myth and dream, tragedy and comedy, hero and God. These themes demonstrate in detail the primary functions of myths in modern society. In the theme myth and dream, the author explains the relationship effectively. The author symbolized our dreams to be like myths. The except that “I recognized the presence of symbolism in dreams from the very beginning” (Campbell, 2008). shows that might’s symbolizes dreams. This because myths should not have an actual hero and our dreams, there is no existence of the hero. Our dreams are wishes that we are trying to achieve, and thus we travel the path of the monomyth.
The theme of tragedy and comedy has been explained adequately by the author. The author symbolized the journey of the hero to be similar to a comedy that has tragedy. Every person has to go through some of the challenges for them to be successful. The excerpt that “the meditating mind is united, in the mystery play, not with the body that is shown to die,” (Campbell, 2008) demonstrate in detail someone has to go through tragedy. Tragedy makes someone to suffer and begins meditating. It is played like comedy since you are playing with your emotions.
