Running head: BASICS OF DECISION MAKING
Introduction
The basics of decision making start with reasoning, which involves selecting several course of action from a number of scenarios ,so that issues are solved. Whenever decisions are made there is usually the final point or choice. So decision making as a process is only stopped only when a satisfactory level has been reached, in relation to the issue at hand .
Making of decisions especially by leaders or managers can be rational or irrational. Whatever the case the final point that is reached, affects all those who were initially targeted before the decision or decisions were made . So, what happens before decisions are made, in majority of cases planning must be done. The planning process is important in guiding the whole process of decision making. Generally decisions fall in three broad types, personal, managerial and governmental. All these involve some steps which must be considered when deciding . There are two main categories of decision making techniques, group decision making techniques and individual decision making techniques. Both categories target to make the best decisions possible on the issues at hand .

This clearly shows how far mankind has come. The modern industrialized world is more advanced than the simple and less complex old days, where the degree of handling issues seriously, was not as it is in this present living(Hall, Ariss and Todorov,2007).
Decisions made at any one point are normally influenced by some factors such as ones background, interests, goals, emotional state, as well as intuition and desires .All the same ,what matters in the end is pointing the right direction that must be followed. Making of decisions must be noted that, is a complex process where many factors are usually put in consideration (James, 1990). The problem must first be identified then the final decision must be reached rationally. Personal issues should not be allowed to interfere with the decision making process. This involves even in making personal decisions. After the decision has been reached then the best alternative must be chosen together with its implementation (Kepner and Tregoe, 1965).
Conclusion
The main target in decision making is usually to reach the best conclusion possible. So, whatever the nature of the problem or issue to be decided upon the main aim issue is usually to strive in giving out the best direction that relates to it (Kepner and Tregoe, 1965). The direction involves reasons that are m...
